FISH FRY

As I mentioned in my last post, Bubba fried fish for us. Please note Saturday's catch in the square pan. Bubba even fried the fish in two different kinds of batter - half in beer batter and half in corn meal batter. Let me tell you, Sonny just kept eating those fish as fast as Bubba could fry them. Of course, that was just so that he could decide which batter he liked best. To be completely fair, Sonny decided that we were going to have to go up another weekend and let Bubba fry another batch. He can then do another taste test, and maybe reach a final decision! This could take all summer - get the frying pan ready Bubba!!
Dorothy has decorated her house beautifully. We stay in the "Rose Bedroom" when we visit and it is as pretty as any Bed and Breakfast that you have ever been to. (Also, remember the pancakes!) So it was with much horror that I discovered the above bag full of bait sitting on Dorothy's pretty kitchen counter tops. I know that Dorothy is probably use to it, but still . . .!!!
Thankfully they did not stay in the house to long. Instead, they went in the boat with the fishermen and were partly responsible for the below picture! Mrs. 25 lb. Catfish decided to have an afternoon snack and did not realize that 3 men were waiting for her. It took one man to drive the boat, one to hook her on the line and another to haul her in the boat with a net to keep the line from breaking or her slipping off the hook. As you can see, they were successful. That is alot of catfish fillets!!
Over our three day stay, the men fished most of the time and they really caught alot of fish! The guys did allow us to go with them the first afternoon and it was so nice to be on the lake.
However, they really got down to business after that and that did not include us, as I think we cramped their style. The lake might be Sonny's favorite spot, but while he is off fishing, I am enjoying my favorite spot. "Sonny, can you bring me a glass of tea before you take off fishing?"

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

For Memorial Day Weekend, we went to Lake Livingston to see Buffy and Daphne who are pictured above. They run the house. However, they did let their people come out and play with us, so we also had a good time with Bubba and Dorothy Kay.
Now Bubba and Dorothy are some of the most hospitable people that we know. If you spend the weekend with them, Dorothy will fix you a fabulous breakfast using fresh farm eggs and her pancakes are to die for. Bubba also cooks for us. As you can see, we had a fish fry, but more about that in the next post. Let me tell you, there is nothing better than Bubba's home cooking on the porch.

This is the beautiful view that we enjoyed as we ate our meals on their front porch. Thanks for a great, relaxing weekend!

APRIL IN PARIS

I always try to change my dining room
decorations every month.
April in Paris is one of my favorite themes and I confess that I have kept it through May. Guess I should call it Spring Time in Paris.

I wish I could say that I got all of these items at the Dollar Store, but that was not the case. I was close however. Most everything came from Marshalls so it was at a deep discount.
Sylvia, Donnie and Christine gave me a gift certificate from Pier One and that is where I found these beautiful runners. An added bonus is that they are reversible. On the other side is a beautiful flower pattern. I was so excited as the striped pattern side of the runner matches my Eiffel Tower Picture, that I have had for several years.
Since I am now working with a very large table (and I don't even have all of the leaves in) I have found that most runners are too short. My solution is to put two runners together and place the center decoration over the seam to disguise it. It really works well.
OK girlfriends! Where are all of you? You better clear your calendars because I have some Paris dishes that need using!!!!!

MOTHER'S DAY

Mother's Day was fun. We all went to P.F. Changs to celebrate. We sat at one of the kitchen tables. You can't see it, but the kitchen is right behind me. These tables are suppose to be premium tables and many people reserve them because you can watch the cooks prepare your food. I guess you are suppose to feel like you get the bonus of seeing a cooking demonstration. As a veteran of many cooking classes, it was not instructional at all, it was just noisy! However, the company was great!!!
Notice the most important part of the meal. That would be the dessert shots.
In case you don't recognize the paper on that huge present, it is from Williams and Sonoma. You can't got wrong with that. Michael, Ryan, Jenny & Matt, thanks for a great time and I will definitely enjoy the presents!

CROSBY PEP RALLY

My niece, Taylor, is a 7th grade Crosby Middle School Cheerleader. I was so excited to go to her Pep Rally and watch her cheer. She did such a good job and please note how beautiful she is!

I have to explain about the video. For some reason, the first girl in line kept jumping in front of Taylor. Didn't she know I did not want her in the video?(: Then, my sister, to help me get a better view of Taylor, took my camera and turned it sideways! I did manage to film Taylor's back flip. She has worked so hard on that and tells me that she will soon be able to do it without using her hands. Obviously, she did not get this talent from her Aunt! Also, Congratulations Taylor for making 8th grade Cheerleader!
